[ Caoimhe thanks Dynamo as he flitters away, helping her find the individual she was looking for! When her eyes fall upon the shapes of potted plants as well, she becomes immediately glad. ]
Oh!! Oh! Have you also got plants as well? I... I wanted to bring the one I got recently, and maybe see if you wanted to look at it - um, is that... I thought it would be the right thing to do, as you are ... A Medicine Healer - or, this 'Doctor'?
Doctor would be my correct title. [he'll tolerate being called a healer since it's more common in a magic-focused society... but "Doctor Add" sounds so much cooler.] One of the shopkeeper's plants, I presume? Looks like aloe... I'll gladly take a sample of it, if you don't mind.
[he kinda knows what to expect from it but hey, free cuttings, he can try to grow his own and find out the magical effects won't pass on. fun stuff.]
Most of my medicines are synthesized from pure chemicals and El, but natural remedies can also be quite useful. Aloe in particular is effective as an inflammatory gel, burn treatment, acne, sores, constipation...
D-Doktar Add... [ Caoimhe whispers it a few more times, adding the term to her dictionary. It isn't hard to say, but her pronunciation of 'Doc' often comes out hard. ] O-Oh... Did you get all the plants as well...? I wasn't sure if you had... I-If there are any you do not have, I do not mind sharing. It makes me glad to know you are already studying them too...
On my world... We would call you a druid... Do you know ...? Magic that connects you to... Nature..?
[ She places the aloe down for him so he can do what he likes with it! ]
Only what I have here, for now. [which is the mint plant and... the anemone isn't from the shop, actually. upon closer examination, she might notice it looks a bit odd, almost ephemeral...] It's not like they're in short supply, so I don't mind acquiring my own at some point. You don't have to give me yours.
My work is that of science, not magic. Something like that, I couldn't use it even if I wanted to.
[said with a laugh, so it's not like it bothers him. but yeah, no magic for him... ignoring all the insane stuff he does that looks like magic. it's complicated.]
Oh... That is unfortunate... I would have loved to teach you some druidcraft. I was... A druid before I began traveling with my companions. [ Meaning, she actually knows the drudic language but that she knows some spells. Except by DND rules when u retrain your level you magically lose your ability to cast those spells - but she still knows their rituals! ] As time went on... My power with the weave seemed to grow strong in my magic as a bard. I suppose that is what happens when... Times change.
[ You know war and stuff. ]
Um.. What is this Science? Is it like Gravity? My friend told me about some before...
[yeah the magic talk didn't bother him but saying "what is science" with a straight face? under HIS (Elsword's) roof???]
Are you serious? If you're so reliant on your magic that you don't even know the definition of science... [SIGHS he's not mad... calm down, don't lose ur cool here...] Never mind. The lack of proper education in your world is a tragedy, but it's nothing that can't be fixed.
To put it simply, science is the study and observation of all things in the natural world. Anything that can be explained in a quantifiable way, for example, gravity is the force that mutually draws objects together based on their mass. Speed and velocity, density, weight, finer details such as interactions between subatomic particles, biological functions of living creatures, medicine, technology, chemical reactions...
Honestly, anything and everything can be defined with scientific understanding. There are rules to how the world functions, and science is about identifying those rules and their functions rather than explaining everything away with magic and so-called gods. Kuku, even something like the Illuminous Phenomenon, call it an act of the gods if you want but to me it's nothing more than mental degradation caused by overexposure to pure El energies...
O-Oh... O-Our education was on other things... Such as rituals, magic, hunting, gathering, uh... [ BASIC FUCKING SURVIVAL ADD!!!!! ] Each comes with very diverse information, we often did not dispute what was not needed to be spoken on. Some of what you said though... We have studied... Just... MM..
[ She seems interested in learning and listening. ]
You would like my friend Oliver, he... He also says similar things about Gods bending to the way um... 'Laws' work.
